Anna Camp defends 18-year age gap with girlfriend Jade Whipkey

A pitch perfect relationship.

Anna Camp, 42, defended her romance with her girlfriend Jade Whipkey, 24, from the criticism of their 18-year age gap.

“I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is far more mature than any of them,” the actress wrote in the comments section of a June 21 Instagram video that mentioned their age difference.

“We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything,” the “Pitch Perfect” star continued.

Camp added: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I’m wishing everyone well especially this pride month.”

Since soft-launching her relationship with Whipskey on social media last month, Camp has been facing backlash for dating someone nearly 20 years younger than her.

“I can’t imagine having the necessary common ground to start a relationship with a 20 year old. What could they possibly have in common?” one fan wrote on the same Instagram post that Camp commented on.

“If a 42 year old is with a 24 year old, it’s about power or control, even on a subconscious level,” another fan said.

A third person wrote, “No. This is not ok.”

“That kind of age difference in any relationship makes me very uncomfortable,” someone else said.

“When I was under 25 I’d have been deeply suspicious of someone over 40 who wanted to date me tbh,” a different fan wrote.

But other fans defended the “You” star’s relationship with her stylist girlfriend.

“Age gaps in queer relationships are very common and don’t often elicit the same power imbalances as hetero relationships,” someone pointed out.

“She is an ADULT. She can date who she wants,” another comment read.

A different fan added, “My dudes, they’re 24 and 42, not 14 and 32. They’re both consenting adults and you don’t have to like it.”

After going public with their romance, Camp and Whipkey made their red carpet debut last week at the “Bride Hard” premiere in Los Angeles.

The couple sweetly looked into each other’s eyes while posing for photos on the carpet.

Camp, who was previously married to fellow actors Michael Mosley, 46, and Skylar Astin, 37, confirmed she was “dating a woman” on TikTok in Februrary.

“I left a date once because a guy was like 45 minutes late and I stayed and waited,” she explained in the video. “Then he said that I was prettier in a movie than I was in person, because I’m an actor and I was like, ‘OK, bye!’”

“I don’t expect anything,” Camp added when asked what she expected from a guy on a first date. “Not anymore. Because I’m dating a woman, and it’s great.”
