To add intrigue to the proceedings, the Birds will be squaring up against their former franchise play-caller in quarterback Carson Wentz, who was the team’s No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and played with Philadelphia from 2016-20.
This season, Wentz, 32, has stepped up after first-string quarterback J.J. McCarthy went down with an injury in week one. In his most recent contest, he completed 25 of 34 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown, leading Minnesota to a 21-17 win over the Browns in London.
“…it’s a very unique group of guys in the locker room and I mean that in a really good way. Everybody’s so close,” Wentz said in a postgame press conference. “I think this week was great for that…I think [the] guys were very close and connected…you gotta enjoy those moments.”
