Katie Porter eviscerated by political rival in brutal new ad

Ex-California Rep. Katie Porter’s opponent in the gubernatorial race is using her own words against her in a new ad featuring the ill-tempered pol’s full-blown meltdown during a TV interview.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa rolled out a three-minute commercial that blasts out the full, unedited train-wreck exchange Porter had with a CBS News California journalist, in which she was abrasive, whined that she didn’t want to have an “unhappy experience” and tried to storm off.

Porter, 51, is leading in the polls to be the next governor of the Golden State over opponents including Villaraigosa, but is facing an onslaught of criticism for her childish behavior as her other nasty remarks resurfaced this week.

The broadcast ad, which is the first three-minute commercial in a California governor’s race in modern history, according to the campaign, began airing early Thursday on CBS stations — the same network where the shocking interview took place — in the Sacramento market.

At the end of the broadcast spot — titled “In Katie Porter’s Own Words” — Villaraigosa says in the background, “We need leaders who will solve hard problems and answer simple questions.”

The ad ran twice Thursday, the only day it’ll be used, and cost about $20,000, a campaign spokesperson said.

The bizarre encounter between Porter and CBS News reporter Julie Watts aired Monday and quickly went viral as Porter complained that the journalist was being “unnecessarily argumentative.”

The candidate was asked about getting support from Trump voters in the election, which led Porter to question why she would need their backing to get enough votes.

As she faced follow-up questions, she soon began trying to take off her microphone and snapped, “I don’t want to keep doing this” and “I don’t want to have an unhappy experience with you, and I don’t want this on camera.”

Porter has a long trail of antics and testy behavior toward staffers that have earned her scorn.

Other opponents running to replace term-limited Gov. Gavin Newsom also piled on Porter.

“I’m not interested in excluding any vote. Every Californian deserves affordable health care, safe streets, a roof over their head and a living wage,” said former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on X.

Former state controller Betty Yee even called on Porter to drop out.

“Katie Porter is a weak, self-destructive candidate unfit to lead California. The stakes are simply too high for her to stay in this race,” she tweeted.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
