Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Ehrich, 34, was taken into custody for battery on a person 65 or older, and that the charge involved a dispute with a family member.
However, the former soap opera star was reportedly released on Wednesday after posting a $1,000 bail.
Ehrich, meanwhile, had worried fans with some troubling social media activity hours before his reported domestic violence arrest.
The “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” actor shared a series of Instagram posts and acted erratically during a livestream, per Daily Mail.
Ehrich also posted on the platform multiple times, including one of text that simply read, “My heart is broken.”
“Link in bio give zelle to my mom,” he captioned the post alongside his mother’s supposed phone number.
Fans quickly rushed to the comments section to express concern about the “Southern Gospel” star.
“Max you NEED to take a break from the internet for a bit please,” one person wrote.
“An actor I can’t even remember where I’ve seen him from, Max Ehrich, is live on IG attacking his mom…” added another after Ehrich’s mother, Rhonda Ehrich, appeared in one livestream.
“Is he in active psychosis or something?” commented a third. “What is happening?”
Ehrich and Lovato, 33, began dating in 2020. The “Cowboy Christmas Romance” star proposed after just four months, and the former Disney star announced the news on Instagram on July 23 of that year.
“I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too,” she wrote in the since-deleted post.
“I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all,” Lovato continued. “You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself.”
Although Lovato wrote that she was “honored to accept your hand in marriage” at the time, she and Ehrich ultimately called off their short-lived engagement two months.
Another of the “Heart Attack” singer’s exes, Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, tragically took his own life in October 2024.
The MMA fighter and Lovato dated in 2017, but their relationship ended later that year.
