Who Went Home On ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Tonight? And Who Got A One-On-One Date?
The Golden Bachelor may be three weeks deep into Season 2 on ABC, but as a result of two back-to-back episodes airing on premiere night, it’s already Week 4 for Mel Owens and his Golden Gals.
Though the 66-year-old former NFL player-turned-lawyer spent a large portion of Night 1 addressing the “unfair, insensitive” podcast comments he made about planning to cut women under 60 from his season, last week, the narrative shifted to center romance and celebrate his impressive senior contestants.

With nine women remaining, Mel goes on a romantic one-on-one with 62-year-old Peg Munson, the retired firefighter and bomb tech, then enlists the help of a professional photographer for a group date on the beach. After a pre-rose ceremony tailgate party, Mel says goodbye to four more Golden Gals, including one of my personal faves! UGH! And there’s lots more Nicolle drama this week, too.
So who went home on The Golden Bachelor tonight, October 8? Who got a one-on-one date and group date rose? And what went down with Nicolle Kate? Decider’s Golden Bachelor Season 2, Episode 4 recap has answers.
Mel Owens And Peg Munson’s One-On-One Date Recap: Let’s Get Down Tonight
Peg may not have gotten the first impression rose, but she clearly caught Mel’s attention from Night 1. The Golden Guy knew she was the perfect high-energy, fun-loving gal to invite to a day at the fair. So the two embraced their inner child, played carnival games, rode rides, and snacked on corndogs in what Mel called a “perfect” day.
After showing more of her fun side, Peg knew she had to dig deeper. She admitted it hasn’t been to fall in love since her ex-husband cheated on her. Though she keeps her guard up, her and Mel bonded over their divorces and exes finding love again, and after some flirty banter and smooching, Mel revealed Part 2 of their date: backstage passes to a KC and The Sunshine Band concert, where they danced and sang the night away.
Did Peg Get The Group Date Rose? You bet! The band welcomed the Golden Couple out on stage, and after Peg accepted the rose, Mel dipped and kissed her in front of the crowd.
Nicolle Is Here For The Wrong Reasons (And She’s Not Even Trying To Hide It!)
Members of Bachelor Nation have seen their fair share of people on these shows for “the wrong reasons,” but have we ever seen someone as bad as hiding their shameful ulterior motives as Nicolle Kate? Truly what is this woman doing?! Ahead of the group date, Nicolle was chilling with the ladies, spilling her grand plan to use the exposure from the show to launch an influencer career.
“I told myself from the beginning, I’m not dating Mel. I’m dating America. I’m dating everybody watching. And not watching. That gives you exposure like you’ve never had,” Nicolle explained. “We’re going to have Housewives status. Now, we’re not on for season after season after season, the way Housewives of Beverly Hills or OC are or whatever, but if they’re smart in the way the publicity goes with our beautiful — I’m sorry, the last cast, they weren’t so great looking.” To quote the great Kelly Kapoor: Yeah I have a lot of questions. Number 1, how DARE you?
To crave fame is one thing. To try to school her fellow contestants on the opportunities The Golden Bachelor spotlight can afford them once they leave the show is another thing. But to go the extra mile to insult the OG Golden Gals, who were not only gorgeous and worthy of love, but straight-up paved the way for her to be on this show in the first place? Absolutely not. Go home to your carefully curated Instagram feed of healthy plant-based recipes, Nicolle! After the closest thing Season 2 has to a villain droned on about how she wants to become an influencer for health-oriented products, Peg simply replied, “I just want a nice guy.” And if she didn’t already have a rose, I’d cut one off a bush for her myself!
The Golden Bachelor Group Date Recap: Beach Babes
For this week’s group date, Mel took the remaining ladies to the beach where PEOPLE’s Editor- at-Large, Janine Rubenstein, and photographer Ari Michaelson organized a Golden Era photoshoot for the magazine. Each woman got into wardrobe and posed for their photos, with Carol stressing over having to wear only a towel. In the end, everyone had fun and felt empowered and sexy. But the photographer clocked Cindy and Mel’s chemistry and pulled them for a more intimate solo shoot. The vibes were vibing until Robin confronted Mel about Nicolle’s behavior back at the house — only she didn’t name names or give specifics, so Mel (rudely and naively!) brushed her warnings aside, saying, “I don’t think that’s true for this group. Overall I think it’s a genuine bunch of women.” Good luck to you, sir!
Who Got The Group Date Rose? Despite Cindy and Mel’s palpable connection, Carol got the group date rose after finally opening up to Mel and initiating a kiss.
Who Went Home On The Golden Bachelor Tonight? Rose Ceremony 4 Recap:
Ahead of the fourth rose ceremony, the Goldens got their tailgate on with prune juice beer pong, a barbecue, and quality one-on-one time. Before the festivities, some thoughtful ladies (Gerri, Roxanne, Cindy) made Mel’s favorite dessert, lemon bars, from scratch. Nicolle spent most of that baking time in the jacuzzi with face mask on, which is why I saw red when she gifted Mel the lemon bars herself and took full credit for baking them, going so far as to lie about making thin crust. Help!
Needless to say, she got a rose later that night, as did Debbie, Cindy, and Cheryl. With Peg and Carol already safe, that meant that Robin, Roxanne, and MY DEARLY BELOVED FIRST IMPRESSION ROSE GODESS, GERRI. *SCREAMS* Mel knew that woman was too dang special for this season, so he walked her out himself. ABC, if you’re looking for a new Golden Bachelorette lead, Gerri is my first genuine suggestion. And then there were six… so until next week, Bachelor Nation!
New episodes of The Golden Bachelor Season 2 premiere Wednesdays on ABC with next-day streaming on Hulu.
