Raisa previously donated her kidney to the pop star, 33, after Gomez’s kidneys were failing due to complications from lupus.
Days before Gomez married Benny Blanco, the “Grown-ish” alum was asked about claims that she was “angry” and “disgusted” with the “OMITB” star for smoking after her kidney transplant.
“Well, right now you’re asking me is nonsense that has been in the media and there are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything,” Raisa said in a Sept. 25 interview with reporter Magaly Ortiz.
“When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something like that because [Gomez] was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors,” she added.
Raisa explained that TMZ reached out about the accusations but she was working.
“So, what you’re asking me are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it,” said the “How I Met Your Father” actress.
“One day, maybe we will address it,” Raisa concluded.
However, the “Secret Life of the American Teenager” alum was noticeably absent from Gomez’s star-studded nuptials to Blanco, 37.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate Santa Barbara, Calif. wedding on Sept. 27.
In the interview with Ortiz, Raisa stressed that she was “very happy” for Gomez.
“She has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her,” the actress said of the transplant.
In 2017, Gomez documented her kidney journey, sharing images of the friends smiling and holding hands from their respective hospital beds.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” the “Wizards of Waverly Place” star wrote on Instagram at the time. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.”
“I am incredibly blessed,” Gomez gushed. “I love you so much sis.”
However, shortly after, rumors surfaced that the two were feuding after Gomez called Taylor Swift her “only friend in the industry” in 2022.
“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” the artist elaborated Rolling Stone.
Raisa responded to the interview by commenting and then quickly deleting the word, “Interesting,” under an Instagram post.
In March 2023, Gomez called Raisa her “best friend,” adding during the interview that she “will never, ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia” for being her kidney donor.
That May, an interview surfaced where Raisa’s dad, Renán Almendárez Coello, claimed his daughter had confronted Gomez about drinking after the transplant.
“There’s a difference when Selena is drinking,” Coello said while on “Primer Impacto” in November 2022. “Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.”
But the friend’s past rift apparently had “nothing to do with the kidney,” according to Raisa.
“Sometimes, I feel people need to spend time apart in order to grow,” Raisa told Extra TV at Gomez’s Rare Impact Fund Benefit, noting it can be “rocky and tricky” to navigate.
She added: “We had to almost go on our own journey and grow.”
Raisa then shared that she forced herself to “take some time” and “figure out what the hell was going on with me, because I wasn’t OK. I am OK now.”
The star admitted that her past has been a hard journey and how Gomez “has been such a huge support through all of that.”
Last month, Gomez, who got engaged to Blanco in December 2024, revealed the matrimonial news on Instagram Saturday with a series of heartfelt photos and videos, captioned “9.27.25.”
