The actor posted to his Instagram on Tuesday, sharing the message that he would go “live in 10 mins,” followed by a video shot in a field, where Chalamet and other actors wear orange bowling balls on their heads.
Chalamet sits in a mesh cage wearing a hoodie that says “Mary Supreme” with a bowling ball decorated with three black stars upon his head. Tiny orange ping pong balls fly around the space, adding to the chaotic vibes.
The camera pans through the other actors (pictured playing ping pong) while a musical track repeats the lyrics, “I am the commander.” Chalamet crawls out through a tiny door in his cage, removing his bowling-ball-shaped head and revealing his newly buzzed haircut beneath.
From there, he adjusts his hooded sweatshirt before entering a makeshift studio, where he concludes the live broadcast by looking into the camera and saying, “’Marty Supreme’ is an American film that comes out on Christmas, 2025.”
And then the camera hovers for a while, movie poster in focus and Chalamet blurred in front.
The haircut was first speculated about back in July when he was spotted vacationing in Saint-Tropez with a bandana around his head and a mysteriously clean-shaven neck.
He also surprised fans at the premiere for “Marty Supreme” during the New York Film Festival on Monday, his hair also covered, but speculation abounded.
Chalamet is currently filming “Dune: Part Three,” so many fans believe that his hair change is, in fact, for that movie, and not his “Marty Supreme” character.
Collectively, fans are not thrilled with the change. One commented on the post, “don’t talk to me I’m grieving his hair.”
Another fan writes on X, “Timothee Chalamet is proof that buzz cuts are not for everybody.”
Many are, comically, referring to his new ‘do as “bald.” Which, while incorrect, seems apt when compared to the inches of hair he cut off for this brand-new style.
But, as we remind ourselves after every ill-advised haircut or DIY bang trim: don’t worry, it will grow back.
Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
