David Ortiz brought Fox postgame show to a strange place after Yankees’ comeback

It was all fun and games on the Fox set until Hitler was brought into it.

On the postgame show following the Yankees’ 9-6 comeback Game 3 win against the Blue Jays, David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, and Derek Jeter were asked how they pronounce rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler’s name, when the former Boston Red Sox all-time great joked, “It sounds like Hitler.”

The crew burst out in laughter as the clock neared midnight of a long day in the studio.

“Alright, let’s go to a break, guys,” Jeter responded to Ortiz after bringing up the infamous World War II figure.

“Papi, you just call him Cam,” Fox broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt added. “And maybe it’ll be Mr. Cam, depending on how he pitches tomorrow.”

There almost wasn’t a tomorrow for the rookie sensation, as the Yankees fell behind 6-1 in the third inning Tuesday night.

Aaron Boone got just seven outs from starting pitcher Carlos Rodon, as the rotation continues to struggle in the ALDS.

The Yankee bullpen kept the team in the game until the bats caught up and eventually brought the game even, thanks to Aaron Judge’s fourth-inning three-run bomb to tie the game at six.

The crew had to do an extra-long pregame show thanks to a rain delay in Detroit, which also forced Jeter to miss a parent-teacher conference, and they received mostly sparkling reviews for their entertainment value during the pre and postgame show.

“They should get this crew together more often,” an X account, @yanksaholic replied to the post about Schlittler. “Probably won’t come close to it entertainment-wise, but feels like Inside the NBA sometimes.”

That crew has a short turnaround after a long Tuesday, as the foursome returns Wednesday as the Yankees face the Blue Jays in a do-or-die Game 4, where Schlittler will get the ball opposite a bullpen game for Toronto.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
