Vikings’ Jordan Addison catches game-winning TD after first-quarter benching

Jordan Addison went from the doghouse to the end zone during Sunday’s game in London.

The Vikings wide receiver was benched for the first quarter after skipping a walkthrough earlier in the week, but he came back to score the winning touchdown in the final minute of a 21-17 win over the Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Those kinds of things aren’t in alignment with our standards,” Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters after the game. “Wanted to make sure he was held accountable for that, but he knows that.”

Addison finished the game with five catches for 41 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass from Carson Wentz with 25 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to take the lead.

O’Connell added that Addison addressed the team before the game after skipping the unspecified walkthrough.

“First of all, he’s a stud,” Wentz said afterward about Addison. “[Vikings receiver] Justin Jefferson is as good as it gets, and gets all the recognition, but Jordan Addison has been nothing but a baller since I’ve seen him live these last couple of weeks.”

Jefferson said he “had words” with Addison over the missed walkthrough.

“I’ve just got to do better keeping [Addison] under my wing and making sure that he has his head on straight,” Jefferson said.
