Mamma mia.
It’s common knowledge — maybe not to everyone — that Italian-American dishes are different than those served in Italy.

No, you cannot order fettuccine alfredo or chicken parmesan at a restaurant in Italy and expect them to know what you’re talking about.
Well, that’s exactly what one American tourist did while on vacation in Italy.

He not only tried ordering a chicken parm type of dish — he went as far as to show his patient waiter a picture of Olive Garden’s massive breaded chicken cutlet served over pasta — and asked if he could order something similar to that there.
Proof of this culture shock interaction was posted on TikTok by the man’s daughter and has garnered over 7 million views.
The video was posted with overlay text that read, “My Boston Irish father trying to order a Google image of the Olive Garden chicken parm in Italy.”
The waiter’s response? A shocked expression looking at the picture, followed by “Only in the States. It doesn’t exist in Italy. I don’t know what it is. On the pasta? No, that’s horrible.”

The Post reached out to the daughter who posted the video for comment.
This tourist might’ve asked for a dish that Italy couldn’t whip up for him — but it’s not as bad as two American travelers who boarded a flight to Africa thinking it was bound for France.
Brittney Dzialo posted a viral series of TikTok videos sharing the shocking story of how she and her friend got on a flight headed to Tunis rather than their intended destination — Nice, France.
“Is this going to Nice?” one of the girls asked another woman on the plane. “Tunis, yeah,” she answered, which proved that the two destinations just about have the same pronunciation, which explains the travel mix-up.
In a follow-up video, the TikTokker wrote in overlay text, “the airline employee misheard us and booked us a flight to TUNISIA, AFRICA instead of Nice, France.”
After landing and finally getting to the bottom of it with one too many panicked conversations with flight attendants — the friends finally made it to Nice, France.
Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
