Randi Weingarten’s rancid politics: Letters
The Issue: Miranda Devine’s criticism of AFT President Randi Weingarten’s focus on leftist politics.
American Federation of Teachers chief Randi Weingarten is so far left she’ll never get it right (“Randi puts lefty politics over kids,” Miranda Devine, Oct. 2).
That she is a leader in America’s public-school system is an outrage. During the pandemic, her priority was always the teachers and never the children. Her resumé indicates that she needs to be left back.

I don’t understand why we don’t hold the American Federation of Teachers responsible for student scores dropping in math, reading and other basic skills. These scores are getting worse each year, and no politician has really addressed this issue.
A student’s score is a measure of the teacher’s performance.

How dare Weingarten wear a paper clip that symbolized the brutal treatment of teachers by the Nazis. As a child of Holocaust survivors, I know what my parents endured and lost.
Randi, were you ever in fear of being sent to a concentration camp because you had different views?
The only “torture” endured is from you running the teachers union, with students receiving poor educations and being forced to go through school with low academic abilities.

Miranda Divine has exposed another fraudster in AFT President Weingarten, whose leadership has been a failure and continues to get worse, especially in the inner-city schools. The student bodies have failing report cards, yet she continues to fiercely resist the Trump administration’s attempt to increase the number of charter schools.
Union-free schools have achieved better grades than unionized schools, so what use is Weingarten to students?

Weingarten’s book proclaims that fascists hate teachers. But do teachers hate fascists? Some of Hitler’s most fervent supporters were teachers.
Closer to home, with the debased schooling that Randi Weingarten champions, far too many teachers are enthusiastic supporters of Hamas or Fidel Castro.
Poor Weingarten has brainwashed herself into believing the tripe she peddles about her union’s virtues.

The Issue: Cheating and nepotism scandals at the US Naval Academy involving Rep. Mikie Sherrill.
Looks like the Democratic candidate for the governor of New Jersey is either a paragon of virtue or a cheater who exploits the privilege of her position (“Mikie’s Navy games,” Sept. 30).
Rep. Mikie Sherrill refused to “rat out” fellow cadets in a cheating scandal at the Naval Academy (which calls her integrity into question).
And now we are to believe that no influence was exerted in the rigorous process of simultaneously getting two of her children into the Naval Academy.
To top it all off, her husband was also implicated in the Naval Academy scandal.
Come on, New Jersey, can this person be trusted with your state’s governance?

Mikie Sherrill is nothing more than a congenital liar and self-enriching politician.
She claimed that she was barred from her Naval Academy commencement ceremony because she didn’t turn in some of her classmates during a cheating scandal. Why is she refusing to release documents related to the investigation?
Her campaign spokesperson, Sean Higgins, said it’s “sick and desperate” that Jack Ciattarelli and MAGA Republicans are going after her family. Typical Dem reaction: Lie, deny and blame.
