Witnesses reported seeing the helicopter struggling in the air minutes before it went down.
Dashcam footage has captured the Robinson R22 helicopter clipping power lines and smashing through trees before crashing into a car in the Airport’s carpark, leaving a dent in its boot.
NSW Police said the man was yet to be formally identified.
A 19-year-old, who was also in the helicopter, was treated for serious injuries and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
An investigation is underway and the incident will be examined by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
“Planned activities include site and wreckage examination, mapping of the site, and recovery of any helicopter components for further examination at the ATSB’s technical facilities in Canberra,” the bureau said in a statement.
