New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Monster: The Ed Gein Story, The Lost Bus, Honey Don’t + More
Psycho killer, qu’est-ce que c’est indeed. Netflix’s Monster series, the one about the most notorious killers of our time, is back this week with Monster: The Ed Gein Story starring Charlie Hunnam as one of the most depraved and creepy killers of the 20th century. On Apple TV+, the real-life story of a bus driver tasked with saving a load of children from a deadly wildfire is brought to life in The Lost Bus, co-starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. And on Peacock, check out Honey Don’t!, the Ethan Coen-directed film which is streaming exclusively on the platform.
It’s October and we’re officially in the midst of spooky season, so why not watch a series about a man who single-handedly inspired onscreen killers like Norman Bates in Psycho, Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs? Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story stars Charlie Hunnam as the American serial killer who not only murdered his victims, but robbed graves and kept bones, skin and other body parts as mementos. The series, produced by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, co-stars Suzanna Son, Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander and Vicky Krieps.
New on Apple TV+ October 3: The Lost Bus
Directed by Oscar-winner Paul Greengrass, The Lost Bus is based on the 2021 book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire by Lizzie Johnson. The film tells the true story of a school bus driver named Kevin McKay, played by Matthew McConaughey and school teacher Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera), who heroically saved a bus full of children when they became caught in the middle of the deadliest wildfire in California history.
Penned by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, Honey Don’t! stars Margaret Qualley as a private detective named Honey O’Donahue who is working a murder case that involves a religious cult. The case is also being investigated by police officer MG Falcone (Aubrey Plaza) and sparks fly as the two work together. Honey Don’t! co-stars Chris Evans, Charlie Day and Kristen Connolly. It’s exclusive to Peacock as of this week.
