Keith Urban ditches wedding ring for first performance after Nicole Kidman divorce news
Keith Urban seemingly scrapped a Nicole Kidman-inspired song and ditched his wedding ring as he returned to the stage for the first time since the actress filed for divorce, ending their nearly 20-year marriage.
On Thursday, the country crooner stepped out onstage at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., for his first show since the duo’s split made headlines.

Before his gig, the “Somewhere In My Car” singer was seen touching down via a private jet for his next stop on the “High and Alive World Tour.”
Urban was seen without his wedding ring during the concert, though he did include a photo of the Oscar winner, 58, and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, in a projected slideshow onscreen during his 2024 track, “Heart Like a Hometown,” per a fan-recorded video on X.
The Aussie singer was joined onstage by his usual core band, however Thursday’s gig came with one major shake-up as Urban had scrapped his 2017 song “The Fighter” from his setlist, despite consistently singing the song during his live shows.
In his gig just days before Kidman filed for divorce, Urban swapped out a romantic song lyric about Kidman during a live performance of his 2017 song “The Fighter.”
The song, which features Carrie Underwood and was inspired by his romance with Kidman, saw Urban change one of the lyrics about his recently-estranged wife to reference his “utility player,” Maggie Baugh, who was onstage with him.
The original lyric is: “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.”
But Urban instead sang: “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh, 25, shared an Instagram clip of the moment on Sept. 26, three days before news of Urban and Kidman’s split, and wrote in her caption, “Did he just say that👀.”
News broke that the “Babygirl” star and country hitmaker are separating after nearly 20 years of marriage on Monday.
Earlier this week, insiders claimed that the exes have been living separately “since the beginning of summer.”
“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” a source told Page Six, adding that the “Eyes Wide Shut” actress did not want to split and tried saving their relationship.
The “Big Little Lies” actress and Urban are already living apart, as “Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” additional sources told TMZ.
Insiders further claimed that Kidman had been taking care of the pair’s two daughters all while “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”
The pair tied the knot on June 25, 2006 after meeting at the G’Day USA gala in January 2005.
Their last joint public appearance took place just a few short months before news of their split, with the couple stepping out at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, held at the Geodis Park stadium in Nashville, Tenn., on June 20.
Weeks later, Urban made headlines when an interview was abruptly cut short after they asked about his wife’s intimate scenes with Zac Efron in their 2024 flick, “A Family Affair.”
Urban has been on tour all summer, and has more shows scheduled through mid-October. The singer has gigs slated for early 2026 in the Bahamas and the UK.
