Will There Be A Season 3 Of ‘Platonic’ On Apple TV+? Seth Rogen And Creators Weigh In

Platonic‘s Season 2 finale, “Brett Coyote’s Last Stand,” premiered on Apple TV+ on October 1, and thankfully, just like Season 1’s finale, before the end credits roll, the comedy perfectly tees up another season.

Starring Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Luke Macfarlane, and more, Season 2 of Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco’s series saw chaotic besties Will (Rogen) and Sylvia (Byrne) navigate a whole new slew of personal and professional crises, including a canceled wedding, an old friend resurfacing, a Jeopardy freak-out, couples therapy, and more!

Though Season 2 saw the two good friends grow apart for a bit, Platonic‘s Season 2 finale not only brings them back together again, but sets up a new opportunity for them to grow even closer, should Apple TV+ renew the comedy for a third season.

So will there be a Season 3 of Platonic on Apple TV+? Has Apple canceled or renewed Platonic yet? And if Platonic returns for Season 3, what would the show look like?

We’ve got answers below, along with comments from Rogen, Macfarlane, Stoller, and Delbanco about how long they’d ideally like the series to run.

Will There Be A Season 3 of Platonic on Apple TV+? Seth Rogen And Creators Weigh In

As of Platonic‘s Season 2 finale day, October 1, Apple TV+ had yet to officially cancel or renew the series for a Season 3. That said, if given the green light to make more episodes, Rogen and creators would love to keep the Platonic party going.

“I would love to keep doing it. I think in a very nostalgic way, for me, it sort of reminds me of a true sitcom from my youth in a lot of ways. I remember like looking at like the Jerry and Elaine dynamic from Seinfeld and being like, ‘Oh, what if it was a show about just them?’” Rogen told Decider via Zoom. “The characters are very funny, and they don’t seem anywhere near to solving the problems that they have. So it’s something that I would love to keep doing as long as people seem to keep enjoying watching it.”

While Platonic was originally conceived as a limited series, after experiencing the fun of making it and seeing the warm reception from fans, co-creators Stoller and Delbanco are also incredibly down to keep expanding Platonic‘s world.

“It would be our dream to make this show forever. Someone else will have to tell us to stop it. We will never stop,” Delbanco told Decider over Zoom. “Rose and Seth are such a dream comedy duo, and they are the coolest people and collaborators. Their thoughts and notes make the writing stronger, and we all get along with each other. And it does feel to us like a kind of infinitely refillable premise, because it’s good friends hanging out and living their lives. So it doesn’t necessarily have a conclusion.”

“It could just go on so it will go on for as long as they will allow us to make it,” Stoller added. So here’s hoping Platonic lives to see another season — and then some!

When Will Platonic Season 3 Premiere?

Since Platonic hasn’t been officially renewed yet, there’s no Platonic Season 3 premiere date on the books yet. While Season 1 premiered in May 2023 and Season 2 premiered in August 2025, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes took place during seasons, which may have messed with the production and release schedules.

If Platonic Season 3 does happen, here’s hoping fans wouldn’t have to wait another two years for new episodes. That said, Rogen also has commitments to his other Emmy-winning Apple TV+ comedy, The Studio, so we’ll have to wait and see!

Platonic Season 2 Ending Explained: What Will Platonic Season 3 Be About?

Platonic Season 2, Episode 10, “Brett Coyote’s Last Stand,” saw Sylvia’s event planning business thriving, Will preparing to open Shitty Little Bar, and Charlie getting Brett Coyote out of his system. Everyone was doing great, until Will received a non-compete from Johnny 66 that shut down his Shitty Little Dreams™.

After he and Sylvia made up, she drove him to Johnny 66 HQ in San Diego so he could confront Jenna face-to-face. Instead of getting the non-compete dropped, Will and Jenny had sex and she told him to go fuck himself. Just when it seemed like Will’s dream business ventures were impossible, he went to Charlie’s book launch party and asked him for his expert advice as a lawyer. “You need someone else to be the face of the business. Anybody else you could partner with?” he asked. Without missing a beat, Will and Sylvia looked at each other and let themselves consider life as Platonic Business Partners.

On one hand? Worst idea ever. Catastrophic. Terrible. On the other hand, Sylvia would get to spend more time with her family! And she’d technically be Will’s boss — a dream! Unfortunately she doesn’t like beer, so they’ll have to add some wine to the menu, which Will is totally fine with! As the two laughed and asked, “What could possibly go wrong?” Platonic played their friendship finale theme, Bleachers’ “Hate That You Know Me.” So we’re desperate to see Will and Sylvia take their relationship to the next level at Shitty Little Bar.

In addition to showing the new chapter and Will/Sylvia’s personal/professional relationship and seeing Charlie return to his lawyer life, Platonic Season 3 would potentially feature more exciting celebrity guest stars. (Confirmed: Zac Efron is top of the list!)

When chatting with Macfarlane ahead of Season 2’s premiere, he also shared the following Season 3 hopes for Charlie:

“I’d love the opportunity to work with Carla Gallo more. I think she’s so funny in the show,” Macfarlane told Decider. “As far as scenarios, I really would love for Charlie to have an opportunity to be a hero. I think he fantasizes about pulling somebody out of a burning car, or something like that, and just for a moment feeling like a hero. I’d love to see him have a big win.”
