11-year-old girl stabbed while shielding mom from estranged dad on alleged violent rampage

An 11-year-old girl was stabbed after throwing herself on her mother to protect her from her father — who allegedly stormed into their Pennsylvania home in a violent rampage, according to reports and authorities.

Richard Cody Hall allegedly busted into the home of his estranged wife and two kids in Redstone Township on Sunday, ignoring a protection-from-abuse order, KDKA reported, citing prosecutors.

Hall allegedly stabbed his estranged wife and his young daughter, who stepped in to shield her mother from the attack, authorities told the outlet.

“That 11-year-old child saved her mother’s life,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele told the outlet on Monday.

He also attacked his wife’s parents before turning the knife on himself, prosecutors said.

Neighbors said they heard a vehicle speeding down the street before they heard a back door being kicked in. Sounds of screams followed moments later, the outlet said.

“She [the mom] recently moved back in with her parents, and she took their 11- and 8-year-old children with her,” Aubele said.

“He [Hall] showed up at the house.”

It appeared that Hall tried to have a conversation with his estranged wife, but she would not let him into the home, Aubele added.

“He physically broke a window door to get into the house and began attacking her with a knife,” Aubele said.

Hall is facing several charges, including four counts of attempted homicide and four counts of aggravated assault, court records showed.

Court records indicate Hall is 33 years old, though multiple outlets have reported Hall’s age differently.

He was in the hospital as of Monday evening due to his self-inflicted stab wound and will be arraigned after his release.

All four stabbing victims were taken to hospitals in stable condition, Law and Crime News reported.

“We’re extremely grateful that this wasn’t worse,” Aubele told the outlet

It is “not the first time” the young girl has had to protect her mother from Hall, prosecutors said.

“We can’t say enough about the actions of this 11-year-old girl,” Aubele added.
