George Clooney admits he feels like ‘village idiot’ around wife Amal
George Clooney knows his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, is the brains of their relationship.
“I feel like the village idiot all the time around her!” the actor, 64, joked to Page Six at the premiere of his film “Jay Kelly” at the New York Film Festival at Film at Lincoln Center on Monday night, which he attended with Amal.

Amal’s impressive legal credentials include representing Julian Assange and former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed and working on the UN’s inquiry into armed drones.
In 2025, she was appointed a Professor of Practice at Oxford University and has been a senior fellow at Columbia’s Law School’s Human Rights Institute.
The couple tied the knot in a high-profile ceremony in Venice, Italy, in 2014, and welcomed their children, twins Ella and Alexander, in 2017.
Earlier this year, the legal scribe, 47, gushed about her husband, 64.
“I have a partner in life who is so supportive of what I do,” she said in an interview with Glamour. “So I don’t feel like I have to apologize for it or rein it in.”
The actor’s latest flick is art imitating life, with him playing a famous movie star who embarks on an “unexpectedly profound journey” with his loyal manager [Adam Sandler], in which they confront the choices they’ve made through life and the legacies they’ll leave behind.
However, Clooney said his role in the film didn’t make him reflect on his own choices because he achieved fame later in life.
“I think it would be the case if I were younger and got famous,” he opined. “I think I would have made dumb choices, I know I would have, but when you’re 33, when things hit, you’ve kind of failed already in a big way.”
“So I could see how it would have been very bad for me at a younger age,” he concluded.
Clooney became an overnight star playing Dr. Doug Ross in “ER” and quickly transitioned to the big screen in movies like “Michael Clayton” and “Ocean’s Eleven.”
Other celebs at the starry film premiere — which will be released in theaters on Nov. 14 and on Netflix Dec. 5 — included costars Laura Dern, Adam Sandler, Billy Crudup, and Riley Keogh.
