100 of Anne Burrell’s loved ones turn out for somber wake as her cause of death remains unknown

More than 100 loved ones turned out to mourn the sudden death of Food Network star Anne Burrell during a somber, private wake on the Upper East Side Friday afternoon.

Family and friends told each other that Burrell would have wanted them smiling and laughing while they also consoled her husband, Stuart Claxton, inside Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue.

The remembrance comes as the Office of the New York City Chief Medical Examiner told The Post Burrell’s cause of death remains under investigation. Officials are still awaiting a toxicology screening, according to law enforcement sources.

The body of the famous chef, 55, was found next to dozens of pills inside her Brooklyn home, though it was too early to speculate if the pills played a role in her death, sources told The Post Thursday.

A FDNY spokesperson told Page Six Wednesday that a 911 caller claimed Burrell suffered cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said this week while announcing her death.

“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
