Ahead of tonight’s game, the Yankees’ lineup revealed two of the team’s best bats will start the game on the bench. Rather than starting Ben Rice and Jazz Chisholm Jr., the lineup is stacked with right-handed batters to face left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet.

The Red Sox won the season series against the Yankees this year, with nine wins to the Yankees’ four in 13 total games. However, the Yankees finished the regular season with a better record than the Red Sox, earning home field advantage in the Wild Card series.

The last time these teams met in the playoffs was in the 2021 ALWC.
