Keith Urban hung up on radio host over Nicole Kidman question before split
Keith Urban appeared to end a radio interview over a question about Nicole Kidman three months before their split news broke.
On July 1, the country singer, 57, appeared on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s “Hayley & Max in the Morning” and seemingly left the call when the hosts, Hayley Pearson and Max Burford, asked an intimate question about Kidman, 58.

“What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful loves scenes on TV and radio?” Burford asked.
Urban was then suddenly no longer on the line.
“What just happened here?” Burford asked as a producer said, “He’s disconnected from Zoom.”
“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the producer added. “He’s gone, see you Keith.”
Pearson said she believed they “upset” Urban because he “doesn’t like the personal stuff.”
But a source told People afterwards that Urban didn’t leave the call.
“Keith did not hang up, period,” the source claimed. “He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothingburger.”
The insider added that Urban is a “very easygoing” interview subject and didn’t have an issue with the hosts’ question.
Kidman starred alongside Efron, 37, in Netflix’s 2024 movie “A Family Affair.” Kidman plays a widowed writer who begins a relationship with a young actor (Efron) whom her daughter (Joey King) works for.
When the film came out, Kidman — who was married to Urban for 19 years — told People that she felt comfortable shooting sex scenes with Efron.
“It’s really helpful when you’re doing this sort of work together that you’ve already got a history together, because it’s easy,” she explained. “You’re not working to create a history. So I’m not like, ‘Can I touch you?’ I feel incredibly trusting of Zac.”
The Post confirmed Monday that Urban and Kidman have separated.
The A-listers, who share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, have reportedly been living apart since the beginning of the summer.
“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” an insider told People, adding that Kidman “didn’t want” to separate from Urban and “has been fighting to save the marriage.”
The duo were last seen in public together on June 20 at a 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville.
Five days later, Kidman shared a sweet black-and-white snap of herself and the singer to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary.
By Aug. 19, the “Big Little Lies” actress shared a photo dump of her “summer memories” on Instagram, but Urban was not in any of the footage.
