Odell Beckham Jr. calls for NFL to nix turf after Malik Nabers injury
Odell Beckham Jr. has seen enough.
The Super Bowl-winning wideout sent a fiery message Sunday to the NFL about turfs following star Giants receiver Malik Nabers’ devastating knee injury at MetLife Stadium in the team’s Week 4 over the Chargers, later revealed to be a season-ending torn ACL.

“Dear @NFL , I mean this with the upmost love and respect. We (The NFL) take all The precautions in the world with EVERYthing else when it comes to players ‘health” and “safety’. PLZ. PLZ. PLZ. GET RID OF THE 🤬 TURF. Thank You in advance. LUV,” the 32-year-old Beckham began on X.
“Respect and u kno I loveeeee the giants , but DeathLife has taken too many talented players away from the game. I kno it’s not ALL the turfs fault but at least maybe it to where we’ve gotten all research done to if TURF has to stay it’s at the HIGHEST of quality possible. At least can we start the discussion .”
Nabers, the Giants’ top receiver after being selected sixth overall out of LSU in last year’s NFL draft, was carted off in the first half of Sunday’s game after his right knee seemingly buckled as he jumped for a pass.
The second-year standout, 22, reached for his knee after landing on the field, with his Giants teammates immediately making their way to the scene to check in on him.
Reports on Monday confirmed a torn ACL, sidelining Nabers for the remainder of the season.
“I’m sorry,” Nabers posted on Instagram, along with the bible verse Isaiah 41:10 that reads, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Nabers is hardly the first playmaker to go down with a season-ending injury in the Meadowlands.
At least 16 players have sustained an ACL or Achilles injury at MetLife Stadium since 2019, the most in the league, according to a stat shared by X user Shaun Ganley, which was illustrated Monday on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Niners defensive lineman Nick Bosa went down with a torn ACL during a game against the Jets in 2020. He’s now out for the 2025 season after suffering the same injury in a Week 3 win over the Cardinals.

Aaron Rodgers famously ruptured his Achilles just four plays into his Jets career in 2023.
Nabers’ teammate and fellow Giants receiver Wan’Dale Robinson suffered a torn ACL midway through his rookie season in 2022.
Then-Giants wideout Sterling Shepard also sustained an ACL injury that year.
Beckham, who began his NFL career with the Giants in 2014, has also worked his way back from ACL injuries.
He sustained an ACL injury while playing for the Browns in 2020 and suffered the same injury while competing for the Rams in Super Bowl 2022, his lone championship.
“My heart hurts for ya 1!!!!” Beckham posted about Nabers Sunday.
MetLife Stadium installed new synthetic turf in 2023.
The venue added a grass field over the summer for the FIFA Club World Cup — something the NFL Players Association took notice of.
