‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Spinal Tap 2’ Be Streaming?

After just a little over two weeks in theaters, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is coming home to digital platforms to buy and rent.

Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer all return for this long-awaited sequel to This Is Spinal Tap, the 1984 mockumentary about a fake heavy metal band, which went on to become a cult classic comedy.

Guest, McKean, and Shearer are all back to reprise their roles, as Spinal Tap, which is reuniting after 15 years for one last big show. What could go wrong?

This time around, Spinal Tap has the advantage of being a beloved film, which means the sequel was able to land some big name cameos, including, reportedly, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Questlove, Trisha Yearwood, Chad Smith, and Lars Ulrich. That sounds like quite a show! But if you aren’t willing to pay $25 to watch the new Spinal Tap movie at home, here’s when we expect to see Spinal Tap II: The End Continues streaming on Paramount+.

Where to watch the Spinal Tap 2 movie on streaming:

Beginning on Tuesday, September 30 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also September 29 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time), Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie costs $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent.

The Spinal Tap 2 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release date has not yet been announced.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, and does not have a set streaming home, given that it is a small, independent release from Bleecker Street. That said, thanks to a deal between Showtime Networks Inc. and Bleecker Street, we do expect to see Spinal Tap 2 streaming on Paramount Plus eventually.

When will Spinal Tap 2 be streaming on Paramount Plus?

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be streaming on Paramount+ Premium within the next five months, thanks to the deal between Bleecker Street films and Showtime, which recently became combined with Paramount+, under the streamer’s “premium” subscription level.

Paramount+ offers two subscription plans. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $7.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime and live CBS) costs $12.99/month. New subscribers can take advantage of a seven-day free trial.

The exact Spinal Tap 2 Paramount+ release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess based on previous Bleecker Street films that went on to stream on Paramount+. Another Bleecker Street film, The Wedding Banquet (2025), began streaming on Paramount+ about four-and-a-half months after opening in theaters. If Spinal Tap follows a similar release strategy, you should see Spinal Tap II: The End Continues streaming on Paramount+ around late January or early February 2026.
