Now, she’s Maybelline‘s newest global spokesperson, fronting the beauty brand’s newest campaign and putting her unique spin on the classic “Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline” jingle.
And in a video announcing the partnership, the singer name-checked a few of her favorites from the legacy makeup company.
“Vinyl Ink is a very important part of my performance because I have had lipstick disasters,” quipped the megastar of Maybelline’s long-wearing liquid lip color.

Referencing how other lip colors she’s tried didn’t stay put, Cyrus explained, “You want everyone to see the statement of your mouth, but sometimes it’s like … the statement of my mouth, and then the statement on the end of my nose, and then it’s on my chin. Keep my lipstick where it belongs!
Cyrus wears the shade Peppy in the campaign, a universally flattering mauve-nude. Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor promises 16-hour wear, no smudges, and has over 42,000 five-star ratings on Amazon alone. (The Matte Ink version is a bestseller, too.)
“No matter what, I’m going to have on mascara and a lip,” Cyrus said in the clip filmed at NYC’s legendary Electric Lady Studios, reflecting on her early experiences with makeup.

“Mascara was all my mom would let me wear, but I wanted to wear eyeliner,” she added, explaining that she’d apply her Maybelline mascara as eyeliner for a cat-eye effect.
“That’s where I learned there’s really no way of doing your makeup wrong.”

These days, Cyrus said, “I like to think of makeup never as a mask, but as an accessory.”
As for having the opportunity to reimagine Maybelline’s famous jingle as part of her campaign?
“I remember singing [it] as a kid and imagining it was me on the screen. Now, it is. To take something so iconic and make it mine — it’s powerful and personal,” Cyrus said via a press release.
