Deputies lasso hulking, 6-foot gator in resident’s yard, wrestle it into cruiser

Wild drone footage caught a pair of Florida deputies lassoing a wily alligator in a local’s yard and throwing it in the back of their cop cruiser, all in a day’s work.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called to the residence after the 6-foot gator was spotted lurking right outside the front door, according to the clip shared by the office last Saturday.

The hulking reptile tried to dodge the cops by crawling behind bushes and then heading into the back yard, the video shows.

Both officers were armed with makeshift lassos and one hooked theirs around the gator’s neck once it settled in a patch of dead grass in the backyard. The alligator immediately snapped its jaws at the man, before going stock-still as it evaluated its next move.

The reptile thrashed and eventually demonstrated a death roll to try and scare the men off, flopping onto its back in a patch of dirt like a petulant dog, according to drone footage.

The deputy who lassoed the gator quickly pinned it to the ground by its neck, then used his body weight to keep it down. He sat atop the beast while the other deputy duct-taped the reptile’s jaws shut, according to bodycam footage.

The fearless duo both carried the gator to their patrol vehicle and set it in the back seat like any other criminal before casually fist-bumping the grateful homeowner.

“Dispatch received a call from a woman stating that there was an alligator on her front porch area. Deputies responded to capture and safely relocate the surprise visitor. Not our first call like this… but it’s always a Florida classic!” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

Alligators are a common sight in swampy sectors of the country, like the Sunshine State.

In August, a Florida deputy handling a much smaller alligator was extra careful with the little guy and even buckled it into the back seat of his cruiser as if it were a misbehaving child.

Earlier, a dedicated dog mom in the same state took matters into her own hands when a 5-foot alligator tried to gobble up her puppy and punched the poor sucker in the eye before prying her pup out.
