The comedy icon told People that it was important to him to create a drink that “tasted like soda” but where “you don’t feel like you’re putting bad stuff in your body.”

Stiller wanted to offer a drink for soda lovers, as well as for non-drinkers.

“I don’t drink, so I love having an option for soda for something to drink for adults too when you’re out,” he told the outlet.

Stiller’s children played a role in the process, too. Ella, 23, and Quinlin, 20, tried the drinks out before they officially launched, and Quinlin was a key tester, given that he loves soda as much as his dad.

“When he asked to have a second Lemon Lime because he liked it so much, I felt like we were on the right track,” Stiller shared. “Ella has tried the sodas and approves of them, too.”

“The idea of having a healthy soda for kids, I think, is something that’s important to us, too,” he added. “Something that parents can give their kids and not feel bad about it, too.”

Shirley Temple is a personal favorite for the Emmy-winning director, a love that began when he accompanied his parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, to nightclub performances as a child.

“They were comedians, and we would be hanging out with grown-ups a lot,” Stiller shared. “And when you’d be at a nightclub with grown-ups as a kid, you’d order Shirley Temple and you felt like you were kind of cool. And of course, because you couldn’t really drink anything else.”

In fact, the “Zoolander” star has such an affection for the Shirley Temple that they considered calling the brand “Ben’s Shirley” before deciding to add other flavors to the collection.

Each 12oz all-natural soda contains just 7 grams of sugar — way less compared to the 39 grams of sugar in a 12oz can of Coca-Cola.

Stiller’s soda brand launched exclusively on Amazon — the only nationwide distributor of Stiller’s — and can also be found in stores in the NYC and Tri-State area. It’s also reportedly set to be rolled out in Walmart stores in the future.
