Livvy Dunne was going through a rollercoaster of emotions in Paul Skenes’ final start

Olivia “Livvy” Dunne was going through it as watched her boyfriend, Pirates ace Paul Skenes, seal a Cy Young-worthy sophomore campaign with a sub-2.00 ERA in Pittsburgh’s 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.

The local broadcast captured the retired NCAA champion gymnast clearly nervous while locked in on Skenes from her private suite at Great American Ball Park.

Dunne, who sported jeans and a gray long sleeve shirt, was filming the action on her phone and appeared to yell, “come on,” as seen in videos on social media.

Dunne reposted the video to her Instagram Story, writing, “can’t blame a gal for being nervous.”

Skenes pitched six shutout innings and the Pirates eventually won 4-3 in 11 innings.

Another clip showed the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model cheering with a Miller Lite in her hand.

”Best szn I ever did see,” Dunne wrote on her Instagram story, including a clip of Skenes celebrating the end of his season in the dugout.

The 23-year-old right-hander — who finished the season with an eye-popping 1.97 ERA— became the youngest pitcher with a sub-2.00 ERA since Dwight Gooden posted a 1.53 for the Mets in 1985.

“Having a sub-2 [ERA] is great, but it’s not … I don’t know. I don’t think it’s necessarily a winning mentality to come out after four [innings],” Skenes said. “I didn’t think about it. I didn’t know what my ERA was during the game. I wasn’t checking anything like that. Just about winning.”

The LSU product — who helped the Tigers win a national title in 2023 — joked that he wasn’t impressed because he had a slightly better ERA, 1.96, as a rookie last season.

“Yeah, I got a hundredth worse than last year,” Skenes said while at his locker after the game. “I’m actually worse than I was last year. I’m just kidding. It’s cool. I don’t come into the year with any numerical goals or anything like that, any stat goals, but it’s a product of doing what you’re supposed to do.”

Skenes also set a new franchise record for most strikeouts for a right-handed pitcher, per MLB.com. He sits at 216 after surpassing teammate Mitch Keller’s record of 210.

Despite Skenes’ other-worldly season, the Pirates are 69-89, in last place in the NL Central and far removed from the MLB playoff picture.

“I wanted to savor it knowing this was my last outing of the year,” Skenes said. “I won’t be doing that again for six months or so. It’s kind of a tough realization. The past few days have been pretty tough for me, knowing that. Nice to have it over with.

“Wish I could keep pitching, just for the joy of pitching. The sub-2 is a nice little byproduct of it, I guess.”

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
