“I think [there’s] a lot of guilt as a mother of taking a moment for yourself. Other mothers who had children, who were older than me and more experienced, would like be like, ‘Yeah, you totally need ‘me time’ to be a better mom.’ And this is one of the first things I’ve ever done that is ‘me time,’ truly.”
Hilaria shares seven children with husband Alec Baldwin: Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 5, María, also 5, and Ilaria, 3.
The yoga instructor told us that production helped move her whole family to Los Angeles so they can be with her every step of the way as she competes for the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
“‘Dancing With the Stars’ is an amazing family where everybody has been so supportive and they made that possible,” she gushed. “So every day, my kids who have had a really hard past few years, are here and they’re seeing their mom happy and going off to work.”
Hilaria’s family has been front and center in recent years, making headlines for everything from her accent to the traumatizing fatal shooting that happened on the set of Alec’s “Rust” movie. She told us that doing a show like “DWTS” has been a “dream come true.”
“I think it’s not just healing for me, but it’s healing for my children as well,” she shared. “Because children want to see their moms happy.”
During Tuesday’s “One-Hit Wonders Night,” Baldwin and her pro partner, Gleb Savchenko, performed a tango to “What Is Love” by Haddaway. They received a combined score of 21/30 from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli.
Following the show, Savchenko told Page Six that the pressure is on to win the Season 34 Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy. Not only for Hilaria, but for Alec, too!
“When we were in New York, I showed him our first rehearsal video. He watched the cha cha, he took a little pause,” Savchenko recalled. “He looked at me and said, ‘If you don’t win, I’m blaming you.’”
Hilaria added, “For Gleb’s benefit, just vote for us, because we need it for his safety!”
For now, Hilaria and Savchenko are focusing on rehearsals for Week 3 of the competition: the show’s first-ever “TikTok Night,” airing next Tuesday.
“We’re dancing the samba to one of the hit [TikTok] songs,” Savchenko revealed. “I’m super excited about it. It’s going to be authentic samba with a little flavor of TikTok.”
“Dancing With the Stars” returns next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with new episodes airing on Hulu the following day.
