Jones told NBC’s Melissa Stark that he has unsuccessfully tried to get Wilson’s jersey after games for years.

When asked if he tried again, Jones revealed his new stance.

“Never gotten one. I don’t even want it,” Jones said on the NBC broadcast following the Chiefs’ 22-9 win over the Giants Sunday night at MetLife Stadium. “It’s all good. I don’t want it. Over time, you kind of understand that now I don’t even want it.”

Wilson came crashing back down to earth in the loss, completing just 18 of his 32 passes for 160 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions as the Giants fell to 0-3.

It followed one of the best performances of his career, when Wilson completed 30 of 41 passes for 450 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a 40-37 overtime loss to the Cowboys in Dallas on Sept. 14.

“There are highs and lows and always tough moments,” Wilson said after the game. “You got to have thick skin, you know what I mean? You got to be able to know who you are, the player that you are, know what you’re capable of.

“Obviously I’ve been able to show that throughout my career and obviously last week and everything else, too, what we’re capable of as an offense. I think they made a couple more plays than us today. I think it was a 9-6 game for most of the game. Pretty tight. We needed one or two big plays. Unfortunately didn’t come our way.”

Jones sacked Wilson on Sunday, his first of the season, as the Chiefs improved to a 1-2 record.

“About time,” Jones said. “It’s been a minute.”
