Cowboys’ George Pickens throws helmet-slamming tantrum after brutal play

George Pickens let his emotions get the better of him after a critical error sealed a win for the Bears on Sunday.

The Cowboys’ wide receiver had been wide open when Dak Prescott hit him with a pass that hit Pickens in the hands and was intercepted by Chicago’s Tremaine Edmunds at Soldier Field on Sunday.

When Pickens returned to the sideline, the broadcast cameras captured him furiously slamming his helmet on the ground before it appeared as though his teammate attempted to calm him down.

The Cowboys went on to lose their second game of the season in the first three weeks, while Pickens had played well for Dallas, aside from the missed catch that led to the interception in the fourth quarter.

Pickens finished the game with five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown, which proved very important after the Cowboys lost CeeDee Lamb to an ankle issue in the first quarter.

Pickens had also been shown on the Fox broadcast with a towel over his head, clearly frustrated with how the game had turned out.

The wide receiver had arrived in Dallas in May via a trade with the Steelers after Pickens had spent the first three years of his career in Pittsburgh.

Pickens has been known for his volatility at times during his tenure in the Steel City, and Sunday seemed to show him allowing his emotions to take over during a tough spot.

The Cowboys brought Pickens in to help bolster their offense and he has had at least 900 receiving yards in his past two seasons.

Pickens had eight catches for 98 yards and a touchdown going into Sunday’s loss to the Bears.

The loss moved the Cowboys to 1-2 through the first three weeks of the season.
