Priscilla Presley was appalled by Lisa Marie, Michael Jackson marriage

Priscilla Presley didn’t approve of her daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s relationship with Michael Jackson.

“I was appalled by the marriage,” Priscilla, 80, writes in her upcoming memoir, “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” according to an excerpt published by The Sun on Saturday.

“I asked her if they had a physical relationship,” Priscilla adds. “Like so many people, I wasn’t sure. She said ‘yeah.’”

Priscilla and Elvis Presley’s daughter married the King of Pop in 1994, but they got divorced two years later.

“I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty,” Priscilla writes. “Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it.”

“The childlike innocence he projected was part of his public mask,” she claims of the “Thriller” singer.

Priscilla adds that she “could practically hear Elvis sigh with relief” after Lisa Marie and Jackson’s marriage ended.

Jackson went on to get married to his second wife, Debbie Rowe, and they had two children together: son Prince, 28, and daughter Paris, 27. The “Billie Jean” singer welcomed a third child, son Bigi, 23, with a surrogate.

In 2009, Jackson died by acute propofol intoxication at age 50.

Lisa Marie, for her part, was married to Danny Keough before her marriage to Jackson. The exes welcomed daughter Riley, 36, and son Benjamin, who died by suicide in 2020 at age 27.

After divorcing Jackson, Lisa Marie was married to Nicolas Cage for two years and then to Michael Lockwood, with whom she welcomed twin daughters Harper and Finley, 16. Lisa Marie and Lockwood, 64, got divorced in 2021.

Lisa Marie died in Jan. 2023 at age 54 of cardiac arrest caused by a small bowel obstruction.

In Lisa Marie’s memoir that was released posthumously, she reflected on the origins of her romance with Jackson.

“Michael said,’ I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children,’” Lisa Marie wrote. “I didn’t say anything immediately, but then I said, ‘I’m really flattered, I can’t even talk.’ By then, I felt I was in love with him too.”

Lisa Marie also claimed that the Grammy Award winner was a virgin before they dated.

“I was terrified because I didn’t want to make the wrong move,” she said in her book. “When he decided to first kiss me, he just did it. He was instigating everything. The physical stuff started happening, which I was shocked at. I had thought that maybe we wouldn’t do anything until we got married, but he said, ‘I’m not waiting!’”
