Stanton moved past Vladimir Guerrero and Jeff Bagwell, who he had been tied with for the past week-plus, while recording his 21st home run of an injury-shortened season.

Up next on the all-time homers list is Carl Yastrzemski at 452.

The benchmark blast came in the first inning, a three-run shot against Orioles right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano to put the Yankees ahead 3-0.

Stanton missed the first two and a half months of this season with tennis elbow in both arms, but this is still the 14th time in his 16-year career that he has hit 20-plus home runs in a season.
