US Naval Academy on lockdown as active shooter threat reported


The US Naval Academy in Annapolis is on lockdown after a dismissed midshipman returned to campus armed with a weapon and began firing, according to reports.

Gunfire was heard inside Bancroft Hall, which is a dormitory on the vaunted campus, Fox News reported citing Naval Academy sources.

The shooter was reportedly knocking on doors pretending to be a military policeman, a campus official told the outlet.


A search of Boggs’ archives failed to turn up evidence of the appointment.

One individual appeared to be taken from an ambulance and into a waiting medevac helicopter on the campus, according to video taken by Fox News.

“Naval Support Activity Annapolis, in coordination with local law enforcement, is currently responding to reports of threats made to the Naval Academy,” NSAA PAO, LT Naweed Lemar, told the publication.

“The base is on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. This is a developing situation and we will provide updates as they become available.”
