Anthony Volpe benched again by Yankees after injury revealed


One day after receiving a cortisone shot in his left shoulder, slumping shortstop Anthony Volpe was out of the lineup for a second straight game Thursday against the Tigers.

Volpe, who is batting .125 with 29 strikeouts in his past 21 games, received the cortisone shot on Wednesday, according to The Post’s Joel Sherman.

He originally felt “a pop” in the shoulder in a May 3 game against the Rays, but the New Jersey product remained in the lineup all summer.
