“I am honored to stand together with everybody and endorse Bruce Blakeman, the man who has done great as a county executive, and will continue to be great as our county executive,” Nassau Police Benevolent Association President Tommy Shevlin told reporters.

“Many people say they back the blue, but Bruce Blakeman doesn’t just say he backs the blue — he acts upon it,” Shevlin added, pointing to investments in new equipment, better training, and hundreds of new hires made under Blakeman’s watch.

Nassau Superior Officers Association President Ricky Frassetti called the endorsement a “no brainer,” and cited the county’s ranking as the safest in America by US News and World Report last year.

Recent police data showed major crimes plunging more than 25% to start the year — a drop cops credited to Blakeman’s tough-on-crime approach.

Nassau logged just 710 major crimes in January and February and didn’t record a single murder in the first two months of 2025 for the second year in a row, while robberies, assaults, break-ins and car thefts all dropped sharply.

Blakeman listed several public safety initiatives as part of his focus on public safety — including efforts to make mask wearing illegal unless for health or religious reasons, removing Nassau’s sanctuary status, and signing a cooperation agreement with ICE.

Blakeman also recently created a new strategic response team that will eventually be deployed into high-crime neighborhoods..

“Nassau County is the safest county in America thanks to the men and women of our police department, corrections officers, probation officers and my no-nonsense approach to law and order,” Blakeman said.

“I will always back the blue,” he said.

Blakeman is facing off against Democratic County Legislator Seth Koslow in November as he comes to the end of his first four-year term in office.

The county exec has a salary of $227,959 per year.
