The positive Jennings update comes after San Francisco placed star tight end George Kittle on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

And that’s not all.

Quarterback Brock Purdy’s status is in question for Sunday’s game after he hurt his left shoulder and toe against the Seahawks.

“We’re not sure,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Purdy’s status for the 49ers’ game against the Saints. “We have to see how it heals and how the week goes on it.”

Despite the injuries, the 49ers secured a 17-13 road win in Seattle.

Jennings had two catches for 16 yards before exiting with the shoulder injury.

In 2024, Jennings became a big part of the 49ers’ offense, catching 77 passes for 975 yards with six touchdowns, all of which were career-highs.

Just days before their season opener, Jennings, who dealt with a calf injury during the preseason, and the 49ers agreed to rework his contract, adding $3 million in play-time incentives that would increase his earnings to as much as $10.5 million.

With Kittle out and Jennings’ status in question, the 49ers signed receiver Kendrick Bourne to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million.

The 49ers also made a major change at kicker, waiving former third-round pick Jake Moody and signing veteran Eddy Pineiro.

Moody missed two key field goals on Sunday after struggling all of last year when he went 24 of 34 on his attempts.
