Charlie Sheen recalls moment with daughter Sami that led him to sobriety

Charlie Sheen credits his daughter Sami Sheen for his sobriety after decades of drinking and drug use.

On Dec. 10, 2017, at 9 a.m., the “Two and a Half Men” alum had already downed three whiskey-laced coffees and had forgotten that he was supposed to pick up Sami for an appointment, he recalls in his new memoir, “The Book of Sheen.”

Charlie, 60, realized he wasn’t sober enough to drive, so he asked a pal to get behind the wheel.

“Sam was very quiet,” the actor writes in his tome, out now. “I didn’t need to be clairvoyant to know exactly what she was thinking.”

“Why is Dad not driving — again?” he imagines Sami thinking. “Why isn’t it just the two of us in the car like it used to be? When will that moment ever return? When will Dad ever return? I miss him.”

Charlie admits that there was “only one thing that felt worse than betraying myself, and that was failing my children.”

“I knew exactly what had to be done,” he continues. “Sam wasn’t my final straw; she was my first harvest.”

The following day, the actor took “two Valiums and drank three beers” and claims in his memoir that he’s been sober ever since.

Charlie shares Sami, 21, and another daughter, Lola, 20, with ex-wife Denise Richards.

However, their relationship has been rocky.

Earlier this year, Sami, an OnlyFans creator, shared a TikTok video explaining why she’s not in contact with her father.

Sami lip-synched to an audio clip of Charlie’s infamous 2011 interview on ABC’s “20/20” when he joked about having drugs in his home.

When asked by journalist Andrea Canning if he had drugs in his house, Charlie replied at the time, “No, there are not. Not that I know about. If I know about them, I’ll find them and throw them away. It’s not a big deal.”

He added mockingly, “Ooh, drugs in the house, ah, we’re all gonna die.”

Sami wrote across the video, “When people wonder why I haven’t spoken to my dad in a year but this is my dad.”

Sami also candidly talked about her estrangement from her father during an episode of “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things” that aired in April, in which she chose not to join her mother and her sister to a lunch outing with her dad.

“I would rather do literally anything else than go to lunch with my father,” she bluntly said in a confessional.

“It goes in very big chunks with him,” she continued of their relationship. “I think for the first 13 years of my life it was pretty bad, and then we were OK for a couple years, and now it’s just like, OK.”

Richards has also previously admitted that Sami and Lola’s relationship with their dad has always been complicated, “from day one.”

“Things can be up and down, but you can always get through it,” she told Us Weekly in March.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
