Their tender moment comes after the New York native appeared “subdued” after her husband rushed to embrace her after his Masters win in April.

A body language expert told Daily Mail at the time, “Rory looks overwhelmed and clingy, while Erica’s response appears a little more polite, subdued and tempered.”

Stoll’s cold demeanor also could have been attributed to his alleged former flame, sports reporter Amanda Balionis, doing a sit-down interview with the golfer after his win and even posting a photo of them together, praising him with a lengthy caption.

“It took 17 Masters starts, 11 years of attempting to complete the career Grand Slam and 73 this week but Rory McIlroy has his Green Jacket and has solidified his legacy alongside Tiger, Jack, Gary, Hogan and Sarazen. What a week and a battle down to the very end,” the CBS reporter penned.

McIlroy, 36, filed for divorce from Stoll, 37, in May 2024 after seven years of marriage before his shock U-turn the following month.

According to docs obtained by Page Six at the time, the Northern Irish pro golfer was the one to file to end their union in Florida, citing that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

His rep also told us that his desire is “to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible” and pointed out that “he will not be making any further comment.”

A source later told Us Weekly that Stoll was “lonely in their marriage.”

“Erica was usually absent for most of his tournaments and was really focused on Poppy,” the insider added.

The former world No. 1 golfer was then spotted without his wedding ring that same month and subsequently romantically linked to Balionis just a few weeks after the divorce news.

The Daily Mail reported at the time the duo were the “talk of the links” after people believed they noticed a close relationship between the two, but Us Weekly reported that the journalist and four-time major champion had only a “professional relationship.”

The rumored pair only added more fuel to the speculation the following month after they were pictured getting very cozy after Balionis had concluded her on-camera interview with McIlroy.

In a surprising twist, McIlroy called off his divorce from Stoll on June 11, 2024 despite the romance rumors between him and Balionis.

“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game,” the athlete told the Guardian in a statement at the time.

“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”

Since calling off the divorce, McIlroy has still been under scrutiny for how he treats his wife publicly. Back in April, he was blasted for snubbing her in his Masters victory speech.

Several people criticized the champion for excluding Stoll from his speech, with one user writing, “Love the shout-out to his daughter … would’ve been nice if he acknowledged his wife.”

McIlroy and Stoll first met in 2012 when she was working as a PGA transport official at the Ryder Cup. They initially started off as friends as he was in a relationship with tennis pro Caroline Wozniacki.

He called off his engagement to Wozniacki in 2013 and started secretly dating Stoll the following year.
