Champion bodybuilder stabbed to death in fight with girlfriend: cops

A champion bodybuilder was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend during a fight in their apartment in Brazil, according to authorities who released photos of a huge pool of blood in the communal staircase.

Valter de Vargas Aita, 41, as stabbed in his neck, face, abdomen and back during the brutal attack on Sunday morning, Brazilian outlet ClicRDC reported. The motive remains unclear.

Gruesome images released by investigators show blood marks left all over the corridors and stairwells as Aita tried to escape before collapsing dead on the stairs of his building in Chapeco, southern Brazil.

Cops were called after neighbors heard the sounds of a vicious fight, and arrived to find Aita already dead, the report said..

His 43-year-old girlfriend, who has not been identified by police, was also stabbed in the fight and taken to the hospital in a serious condition, according to the reports.

She already had an outstanding warrant for armed robbery and murder at the time of the killing and was facing a 15-year prison sentence, ClicRDC reported.

Aita, a former World Fitness Federation runner-up and five-time state bodybuilding champion, had competed in contests for over a decade.

He also worked as a personal trainer, sharing his diet and workout routines with thousands of followers on social media.

The gym where Aita worked remained closed Monday as a mark of respect, it said..
