Alvarez, who is trying to come back from a sprained UCL in his right thumb, was hit on a check-swing attempt. He was immediately and visibly in pain, bent over with his hands between his knees.
The pitch was a 90 mph sinker, according to the broadcast.
He walked to first base and was quickly removed from the game after having his hand checked.
Alvarez has a history of hand injuries with the Amazin’s.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Alvarez is “getting checked out.”

Alvarez is hitting .265 with seven homers and a .787 OPS this season.
This is a developing story.
