The Yankees ace is out for the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March, but remained bullish on his team when asked about what he thought of the 2025 version of the Bronx Bombers, despite the Yankees extending their losing skid to five games — including three straight shutout losses.

“I like this club a lot. You go through highs and lows throughout the season,” he said on air. “You obviously don’t like to lose, but it happens sometimes. I think the balance of the club is great. I think the team’s speed is up. I think the defense is up, obviously, Max [Fried] and Aaron [Judge] are having outstanding years carrying the club. Things haven’t gone exactly to plan for the Yankees in recent games as they had entered the game with a 20-inning scoreless streak, which they extended to 29 frames in the Tuesday defeat.

Cole said that he was “excited” to join the YES Network booth prior to the game, when he announced that he would be giving broadcasting a whirl.

“I’m excited for that,” Cole told Jack Curry last week. “I’m very excited. It was brought to me and offered to me and I think it will be a really cool experience, so I’m going to check it out and see what it’s all about.”
