The death certificates reveal grim new details in the moments before their deaths — which were ruled a homicide — showing Deluca died within seconds of being shot, but Kaye suffered for minutes before succumbing to her injuries.
Though fatally shot on July 10, the couple’s death certificates list their official time of death as when LAPD officers discovered their bodies on July 14, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office told People.
Autopsies were performed on both victims, but Kaye’s July 23 death certificate, however, initially showed that no autopsy was performed on the “American Idol” executive.
Her death certificate was corrected on Aug. 4, People reported. The couple was cremated on July 23.
Kaye, an award-winning music supervisor for the hit competition show, and Deluca had returned to their home in Encino after grocery shopping on July 10 when alleged killer Raymond Boodarian, 22, was inside burglarizing it.
Boodarian — a known heavy drug user with a history of mental illness and multiple prior arrests — allegedly killed them execution-style with their own gun.
The suspect entered through the couple’s unlocked front door, and their alarm was not set.
A neighbor saw somebody hop the couple’s fence around 4 p.m. the day they were killed and called police.
However, when officers arrived, they found nothing immediately amiss, even after they flew a helicopter over the property to get a better look.
Though police checked around the outside, the couple was already dead inside their $4.5 million Encino home.
“The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot,” authorities said, according to People.
Four days later, officers conducting a welfare check discovered the couple shot to death inside their home.
Boodarian was arrested the following day and charged with two counts of murder.
Fingerprints from his prior arrests helped identify him as a suspect in the grisly double murder.
The accused killer faced arraignment on Aug. 20 in LA, but the proceeding was cut short when he refused to respond to the judge.
He is now scheduled for mental health court on Sept. 3 and remains in custody without bail.
Boodarain has at least three prior arrests to his name across late 2023 and early 2024, with charges ranging from battery to making threats with a weapon.
Boodarian was also released the same day after at least two of those arrests, court records show.
Kaye had been with “American Idol” for more than 15 years and won several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.
