Garrett last pitched Friday, when he allowed two earned runs over one inning in Atlanta.

The right-hander joined Frankie Montas in recent days among Mets pitchers to hit the IL.

Unlike Montas, who is out for the season with what has been termed a “significant” injury to the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow, the Mets expect Garrett back this year.

Garrett underwent an MRI exam on the elbow, according to manager Carlos Mendoza, that didn’t show structural damage to the UCL.

The pitcher will receive a cortisone shot and could resume throwing within a few days.

Mendoza said it’s possible Garrett will return within a two-week time frame.

Garrett started the season strong for the Mets, but has slumped in recent weeks.

He owns an 8.00 ERA in August, which includes allowing at least one earned run in four of his past five appearances.

Garrett was removed from a higher-leverage role following the trade deadline additions of Gregory Soto, Tyler Rogers and Ryan Helsley.

José Castillo was selected from Triple-A Syracuse, giving the Mets a third lefty in the bullpen to join Soto and Brooks Raley.
