You generally know what you’re going to get with brand names. You buy Coca-Cola, you know what it is going to taste like. You get an Apple computer, you know what it is good at and what it isn’t. You eat at Applebee’s, you know what type of service to expect.

Brand names offer few surprises. The mom-and-pop shops, those are more exciting, even if riskier. But sometimes you can find better value for your money. Billy Joe’s Pretty Good Hot Dog Stand is an adventure, and it isn’t going to cost as much as eating at Peter Luger’s.

So when spending pricey draft picks, you have a pretty good idea what you’re going to get. You don’t need anyone to break down why Ja’Marr Chase should go No. 1 overall, or that Justin Jefferson is good, or Malik Nabers is a nice pick.
