“Needless to say, nothing at the top got dry…”
A woman has shared her frustrating story to Reddit, after seeing her husband do something absolutely eyeroll-worthy at home.
“Asked my husband to hang the clothes,” she began.
“Apparently there was no more space in the rack and everything else were ‘small items’ (kids t-shirts, socks and shorts).
“Needless to say, nothing at the top got dry…”
Sure enough, the attached photo shows the laundry about 70% hung up, with the remaining items simply dumped on top. Perfect.
“Do you think he does stuff like this when his boss asks him to do a task?”
Commenters on the post didn’t hesitate when it came to criticising the husband, calling him out for his weaponized incompetence and immaturity.
“If you’re not aware of the concept, look up weaponised incompetence. This is the most perfect example: ‘If I f-ck it up she won’t ask me to do it again’,” one commenter shared.
“Did you date him for less than 1 full laundry cycle before deciding on marriage?” another joked cruelly.
“Do you think he does stuff like this when his boss asks him to do a task? Would he have thought a little bit about how to make it work? Also if you hung that amount of clothes would it have fit?” said another, calling him out.
“I would never do his laundry again”
Unfortunately, weaponized incompetence isn’t uncommon, so people were able to come to the rescue with solutions – from experience, of course.
“Honestly, if this was my husband, I would never do his laundry again, so if this was an attempt to get out of doing chores [it] would have failed miserably on me,” one person said – because you shouldn’t have to train your husband.
“One day my teenage brother tried to pull that sh-t for the second time. Since trying to explain to him why it was wrong the first time didn’t work, I decided to immediately fold his still-wet clothes and put them in his drawer. All his clothes were musty and damp the next day. He got very mad at me, but he miraculously learned to do it properly after that and hasn’t pulled shit like that again,” another shared.
“Do that with only his clothes from now on and if he says something just say, ‘I saw that you hung them like that so I thought that’s how you wanted your clothes hung’,” said another person.
Or, divorce is always an option!
