Calvin Klein’s NYC penthouse office and studio sells for $3M

Fashion designer Calvin Klein’s penthouse office and studio in Chelsea has sold for $3 million, Gimme Shelter has learned.

That’s $1 million less than the $4 million Klein paid for the stunning space in 2006, which was the same year that he and his then-wife, Kelly Rector, divorced.

The unit was last asking $3.4 million — almost half off its $6.5 million in 2019, when there were no takers.

The 18th-floor aerie is at the 20-story Chelsea Arts Tower, in the heart of the Chelsea Gallery District, at 545 W. 25th St.

Klein, famed for his signature minimalist style, had tapped architect Richard Gluckman, a fellow minimalist, to design the sleek interiors to reflect his deceptively simple, clean-lined aesthetic.

At 3,300 square feet, the full-floor office condo features 11-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and polished concrete floors. The space opens to a reception area that leads to a large, open-plan workspace.

There’s also a kitchen, plus a 420-square-foot terrace with views of Hudson Yards, the Hudson River and the skyline. A crane was once used to deliver the penthouse’s 24-foot metal conference table, WWD reported

Klein sold his fashion business to Phillips-Van Heusen Corp. in 2003.

He is known for having an eye for real estate as well as fashion.

In 2021, Klein sold his 8.5-acre oceanfront spread in East Hampton for $85 million — far more than the $3.6 million he and Rector paid for it in 1987, when they bought it from Pan Am founder Juan Trippe.

The Chelsea unit’s listing agents were Noel Berk, Elizabeth Mercedes Berk, Fran Shapiro and Sarah Gabbay of Engel & Völkers. The buyers were represented by Sahar Ziv and Ethan Silver of Douglas Elliman.
