Brandon Blackstock’s death certificate revealed he suffered from seizures leading up to his death.
According to the official death certificate obtained by People Thursday, seizures were listed as “significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.” Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband’s official cause of death was listed as malignant melanoma.

Per the outlet, his occupation was listed as a rodeo industry rodeo producer.
A rep for Clarkson did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Blackstock battled the aggressive form of skin cancer for three years before succumbing to the condition on August 7 at the age of 48.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a family rep told Page Six at the time.
“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
A source also confirmed to Page Six that the father of four had been in hospice prior to his passing.
His former wife, with whom he shared kids River, 11 and Remington, 9, announced for the second time the cancellation of some of her Las Vegas residency shows on the eve of his death.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” the singer wrote in an August 6 Instagram post.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Blackstock and the “American Idol” winner, 43, were married from 2013 to 2020, and finalized their divorce in 2022.
Clarkson’s former manager subsequently emarked on a “beautiful and loving” relationship with her former assistant, Brittney Marie Jones.
“Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana,” his obituary, published Tuesday, read.
Blackstock also shared adult kids Seth, 18, and Savannah, 23, with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.
