Conway is one of the oldest towns in the Palmetto State, but the small city is enjoying renewed interest from house-hunting Americans across the country.

The increasingly popular locale, just 30 minutes from the white sands of Myrtle Beach, is reportedly the ideal spot for beach lovers on a budget.
In a report cited by the Daily Mail, the moving company comparison site MoveBuddah identified the small city as piquing the particular interest of Americans seeking moving services.
The analysis of more than 55,000 searches revealed a high interest in Conway, the outlet reported, with four times as many people looking to flock to Conway than leave it.
The increase in eyeballs on Conway comes as little surprise when you consider that the median home price in the small city was just $298,500 in June, according to Redfin — that’s $150,000 less than the national median price tag.
For-sale homes in the small city offer buyers far more bang for their buck than comparable abodes in Myrtle Beach. Buyers should expect a 5,000-square-foot home in the popular seaside destination to run them into the $1 to $2 million range, while similarly sized residences in Conway currently hover around $800,000.
Conway was founded in 1732, and its historic downtown is landmarked in the National Register of Historic Places. The western banks of the Waccamaw River wind through the city, which is dotted with live oak trees iconic to the Southern region.
Although Conway lacks the touristy attractions found along the main drag of Myrtle Beach — think House of Blues and Medieval Times — it does offer several golf courses and arts programming out of the city’s own Coastal Carolina University.
Conway currently contains an estimated population of 26,000 locals, based on a 2023 American Community Survey estimate. But if online searches for moving companies are any indication, that number could soon change.
