It’s clear that the Platonic crew likes to re-team with their talented pals, and that history and comfortability among the cast is a crucial reason why the show’s characters have such off-the-charts chemistry. So who else from Stoller and Delbanco’s careers would they like to welcome into Platonic‘s world down the line?
“There are so many people. It’s hard to pick one person, because we’ve just been so lucky with all the people we’ve worked with,” Delbanco told Decider via Zoom. “I’m sure we’ll go to a lot of them,” Stoller said hopefully, before agreeing on another fan-favorite Neighbors and Neighbors 2 star: Zac Efron.
“Yeah! I just worked with him on a movie, actually. I just finished a movie [Judgment Day] for him and Will Ferrell,” Stoller told Decider. “[Zac is] just the greatest. He remains one of the the dreamiest, both physically, but also emotionally. He’s one of the greatest people I’ve worked with.”
Dang, high praise!
Both Stoller and Efron recently guest starred on Season 1 of Rogen’s other super successful Apple TV+ comedy, The Studio. And just as Rogen hopes to have Rose Byrne guest star on The Studio one day, he’s down to see Efron on Platonic, as well.
“We need to get Ike [Barinholtz, Neighbors/The Studio] and Zac in Platonic. That’d be great,” Rogen told told The Hollywood Reporter. Byrne agreed that a Neighbors reunion was needed, adding, “I don’t understand why that hasn’t come to fruition yet. Now I have it in my head that’s what we need to do.”
“We will take it under advisement and see if [Zac] will do it,” Delbanco told Decider.
In addition to welcoming beloved Season 1 stars back to screen, Platonic Season 2 added several big guest stars, including Saturday Night Live‘s Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney. So fingers crossed that the guest star magic can continue in a potential Season 3, and that Efron is on board to team up with his Neighbors pals again. We’re officially manifesting, Platonic fans!
New episodes of Platonic Season 2 premiere Wednesdays on Apple TV+.
