Bill Maher Skewers ‘The View,’ Proclaims It’s Not “The Best Advertisement For Women”
Famously outspoken comedian Bill Maher seems to have a problem with how the ladies of The View share their opinions.
Maher criticized the ABC talk show during a recent episode of Club Random with Drew Barrymore. While Maher acknowledged that he’s “friendly” with The View hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar and has had a good time appearing on the show himself, he is not a fan of The View‘s format, which has become increasingly political.

“I’m friendly with some of the ladies on The View and I love them but that show’s a lot,” he told Barrymore.
He continued, “You know, I love Whoopi and Joy. Those are the two I really know. And I did it like a year ago and I liked everybody, but I don’t know if they’re really at this moment the best advertisement for women.”
“It’s a format, that show,” Barrymore replied.
The daytime talk show has become known for criticizing the right and President Trump’s politics. So much so, there hav been reports that ABC execs asked the show to “tone down” the anti-Trump rhetoric but they refused.
“They say some things that are just like, not helpful, like say to elections,” Maher claimed on Club Random.
Maher last visited The View in 2024 ahead of the presidential election to promote his book What This Comedian Said Will Shock You. While he may remember the visit fondly, there is a chance that the ladies of The View remember it differently.
During his appearance, he called Behar out for claiming MAGA supporters should wear a swastika on their hats, and Sunny Hostin also told the comedian that she felt he’s “changed” after he criticized the “super far left” for their “woke” beliefs.
Hostin pushed back against a statement he made on the show saying Trump could get elected in 2024 because of the “woke stuff that a lot of people in this country just don’t go for.” When she asked why being “woke” is a bad thing, Maher suggested that he could instead begin saying the “super far left” instead, to which she instead suggested he say “super far right.”
“I think we agree about the danger of the super far right,” Maher replied. “I can’t say it enough. I think they are the bigger threat. But don’t tell me that the left hasn’t changed.”
“You’ve changed though,” Hostin fired back, to which Maher insisted, “I don’t think I have.”
Goldberg has also feuded with Maher in the past over his comments about the vaccines and the Black National Anthem.
