Mike Tomlin’s press conference wraps unexpectedly after Steelers’ preseason win
Mike Tomlin may just have experienced the easiest news conference of his career.
Following Pittsburgh’s 31-25 preseason win over the Jaguars on Saturday, the Steelers’ head coach did what he always does after a game: made his way to speak with media members.

“It was really a good evening’s work,” Tomlin said as part of his opening statement. “We got put in a lot of situations and got a chance to watch people perform in them, a two-minute drive before the half kind of highlighting some of that. I thought we did a nice job of not beating our own butt. We kept pre-snap penalties virtually to a minimum; I think we had one.
“We played a pretty clean game for our first time out. We gave a lot of people a lot of opportunities and this is what this is about.”
He continued on for another moment or two before opening up the room to questions.
The problem: There were no questions for the Steelers’ head coach.
Tomlin looked around for a second, and a Steelers media relations staffer appeared to ask if anyone in the room had any questions.
When no one spoke up, Tomlin said “Thank you” and exited the room.
It seems that the players weren’t the only ones in preseason mode on Saturday night.
Tomlin can enjoy the brief postgame media conferences while they last before facing plenty of questions once the regular season begins.
The Steelers enter this season with former Packers and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback, as their starting QB for the first time.
